Brad won his first-ever acting Oscar while Leo's performance went overlooked by the Academy, but multiple rewatches reveals the truth: This is Leo's movie, not Brad's.
Just rewatched The Revanant and somehow ended up here, reading this masterful review/retelling of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I loved the movie, and because I like Brad more than Leo in general (I mean, he's Brad Pitt!), I had thought the two actors were equally matched in the film - until reading this. You made your case - and then some - for Mr. DiCaprio - and I agree with it all. I particularly liked the scene with the little girl on the set between takes. She was so good, he was so real, and her praise of his acting really was completely believable.
I enjoyed your piece very much. It's well-written, knowledgeable and FUNNY!! I'm going to subscribe since I assume I can read your current reviews that way, instead of just finding one by chance!
Great article, I totally agree with you! Leo isn't always recognized for his subtle performances and humor, and I don't know why.
